Gorbachev congratulates Thatcher on her birthday

     London/Moscow. Oct. 19 (Interfax) - Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev met with former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during his current visit to London.
     "Gorbachev, together with his daughter Irina, met with Lady Thatcher and warmly greeted the former prime minister on her 80th birthday, which she marked a few days ago, and gave her flowers and a memorable present," Gorbachev's aide Pavel Palazhchenko told Interfax on Wednesday.
     "They had a very warm and friendly conversation," he said. "They recalled their cooperation and joint efforts to stop the Cold War," the aide said.
