Perestroika History. 35 Years Ago Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan Met in Geneva, November 19 – 21, 1985The leaders of the Soviet Union and the United States met after a six-year pause in summit-level contacts between the Soviet Union and the United States. After three days of discussions, they adopted a Joint Statement which became an important milestone on the way to ending the Cold War. At the request of the permanent represntatives of the USSR and the United States at the United Nations, Oleg Troyanovsky and Vernon Walters, the Joint Statement was distributed as an official document of the UN General Assembly. We are publishing a copy of the document as well as photos and videos of the Geneva Summit.
