Media Freedom Prize awarded to Mikhail GorbachevOn 18 December 2015, in Moscow, in a ceremony held at Ukraine hotel, Mikhail Gorbachev was awarded Media Freedom Prize. The award was established by the German media group Weimer Media Group and is awarded for "the cause of entire life". The founders specifically emphasize Mikhail Gorbachev’s contribution to the termination of the Cold War. A video recording of the ceremony will be shown in Germany in January, as part of the Ludwig Erhard Symposium, a major annual conference traditionally attended by many leading German politicians and economists. A delegation led by Weimer Media Group’s top managers, Dr. Wolfram Weimer and Ms. Christiane Goetz-Weimer, had come from Munich to Moscow to award the prize to Mikhail Gorbachev.

The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.
