Off the press: 9th release of the Gorbachev Readings
There was a lot of discussion and misinterpretations in connection with these developments, particularly in connection with the 20th anniversary of the 1991 August coup and the Belovezh takeover in December 1991. The authors of the book did their best and offered their own vision of Perestroika and the 1991 events as supported by the documentary evidence, including the materials of the Gorbachev Foundation Archive. Individuality of authors is evident in various sections. Nevertheless, this is not a collection of articles but a collective work Project Team Anatoly Chernyayev (project team leader)

The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.
