The Gorbachev Foundation Hosts The Evolution of Women''s Leadership Conference: Russia, 1985 – 2005
On September 29, 2005, the Gorbachev Foundation will host The Evolution of Women's Leadership Conference: Russia, 1985 – 2005. The Conference is organized by the Raisa Maximovna Club (The Gorbachev Foundation) and the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation.
What changes have taken place over the last 20 years in the representation and influence of women in the economy and business? What are the techniques/mechanisms for training women leaders? What life has been like for graduates from the programs of training women leaders and managers? Women who have gained professional success are a resource of stability and development for the society: what are the signs of it and how could it be manifested in the future? What obstacles do successful women have to overcome? What outlooks do they have?
These are the issues offered for discussion during the round tables (“Women's Leadership: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” and “The Program of Training Women Leaders at the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the RF: Fates of Graduates”) and the discussion with the theme “Do Successful Women Need a Feminist Outlook”?
Among the speakers at the Conference are academicians, scholars, and experts from the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading institutes and training and consulting centers from Moscow and other cities of Russia.
The discussion will be held with the participation of women who are heads of government agencies, businesses and NGOs, journalists, graduates of women’s leadership schools, researchers, etc. The discussion will be followed by the presentation of a series of publications made under the project “Woman of the Third Millennium: Civic and Political Responsibility” (The Gorbachev Foundation and the University of Calgary, Canada).
The Conference will be hosted by Irina Gorbachev-Virganskaya, Vice-President of the Gorbachev Foundation.
