Presentation of the Book Breakthrough to FreedomOn April 5, 2005, the Gorbachev Foundation held a presentation of a new book titled Breakthrough to Freedom and published by the Alpina Business Book Publishers. The event was hosted by Mikhail Gorbachev, who wrote a foreword to the book, which is dedicated to the 20th anniversary since the start of Perestroika. Among the contributing authors – and there are more than twenty of them – are economists and political scientists, historians and diplomats, former top officials from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and experts from the Gorbachev Foundation. The book compiled by Professor Viktor Kouvaldin and edited by Doctor Aleksandr Veber (both from the Gorbachev Foundation) features essays, articles, papers, surveys, and analytical reports. Among its foreign contributors are Ambassador Jack F. Matlock, Jr., Professor Archie Brown, Sir Rodric Braithwaite, and Professor Stephen F. Cohen. |
